DR. GEOFF CULF

Veterinarian / Owner

Dr. Geoff purchased the practice from the founder and long-time owner of Lock One Animal Hospital, Dr. Sam Thompson, in 2021. He was born and raised in the GTA but moved to the beautiful Niagara Region upon graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College. Dr. Geoff’s favourite aspect of veterinary medicine is getting to meet new pets and people and celebrating the happiest moments, as well as helping through the toughest moments in our pets’ lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Geoff enjoys spending as much time as possible exploring the outdoors with his partner and son, as well as his best friend, Bindi, the golden retriever. He is also tolerated by two cats, Garfield and Lettuce.

Dr. Rianne Kamula

Dr. Rianne Kamula

Veterinarian

Dr. Rianne is a 2017 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Toronto for the past four years. After recently moving to St. Catharines from Toronto, she is very excited to join the Lock One Animal Hospital team.

In the past, she has been involved in community outreach in many different cities around Ontario. Dr. Rianne is passionate about all aspects of small animal medicine but takes a particular interest in oncology and internal medicine.

Dr. Rianne has a cat named Franklin, who considers himself to be a dog. He loves all people, plays fetch, and can even sit on command. When she is not trying new recipes at home in the kitchen, she enjoys participating in many different sports year-round. You can most definitely find her on a golf course when the weather is nice, in the gym, or out for a hike with friends. She has recently been enjoying her weekends exploring the many wineries the Niagara region is famous for.

Marie Heidebrecht

Registered Veterinary Technician

Marie has a passion for veterinary medicine and is always seeking to learn new things. She always advocates for her patient’s comfort and pain control. Marie looks forward to developing relationships with Lock One’s clients over the next number of years.

Marie’s curly-tailed brats, her Basenjis Indy, and Nike keep her busy whenever she’s not at work. Indy is a senior now with lots of needs, and the youngster Nike has boundless energy and particularly enjoys chasing squirrels and the sighthound sport of lure coursing. Marie’s other hobby is photography, although the two are closely linked since her favourite subjects are her dogs!

Sarah Haeni

Sarah has always had a passion for animals, leading to her career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Sheridan College in 2012 and continuously strives to expand her knowledge. She prides herself on treating each animal with love and respect while providing them with the high-quality care that they need.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her two daughters, her husband, and their golden retriever, Bentley. Their favourite place to be is either at the cottage or the gym. Sarah is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her second daughter, but we are all looking forward to her return later in 2023.

Amy Whatley

Like most technicians, Amy’s love for animals started when she was very young. Her family has had basset hounds since she was 5 years old and she is a self proclaimed basset hound enthusiast!

Amy studied psychology at the University of Windsor and graduated in 2014. After a course in animal behaviour, she volunteered at a veterinary hospital and knew she wanted to become a veterinary technician. Amy then graduated from St. Lawrence College in Kingston with an advanced diploma in Veterinary Technology in 2018. She became an RVT in 2019, and has a special interest in surgical nursing, dentistry, and client education.

Amy was born and raised in London, Ontario, but has made St. Catharines her home since 2019. In her free time, she loves spending time with her partner and her basset hound Heidi – they love going to the beach and exploring the Niagara area. Amy also shares her house with her cat Tika.
