Meet the team

Dr. Geoff purchased the practice from the founder and long-time owner of Lock One Animal Hospital, Dr. Sam Thompson, in 2021. He was born and raised in the GTA but moved to the beautiful Niagara Region upon graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College. Dr. Geoff’s favourite aspect of veterinary medicine is getting to meet new pets and people and celebrating the happiest moments, as well as helping through the toughest moments in our pets’ lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Geoff enjoys spending as much time as possible exploring the outdoors with his partner and son, as well as his best friend, Bindi, the golden retriever. He is also tolerated by two cats, Garfield and Lettuce.

Dr. Amanda was born and raised in Mississauga. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016, she moved to the Niagara Region, where she practiced at another local clinic for six years before joining the Lock One team in 2022.

Dr. Amanda believes in a preventive approach to medicine and enjoys working with pet owners to ensure that all her patients remain healthy and happy. She has a special interest in internal medicine and surgery.

When not working, Dr. Amanda enjoys spending time relaxing with her family. Ever since she was very young, her family has included German Shepherds, including her current special girl, Lexi. Additionally, her pet family now includes two cats, Eleanor and Carl. Dr. Amanda and her husband enjoy travelling, hiking, and cycling. She is also an avid reader.

While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and prides herself on providing gold-standard care to all of her patients, Dr. Emily has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and emergency medicine. She believes every patient deserves to look forward to visiting the clinic and prioritizes positive reinforcement and fear-free handling techniques to achieve that goal.

When she’s out of the clinic, she keeps busy by spending time outside with her children, her husband and fellow Veterinarian, Andrew, and their dog and two cats.

Marie has a passion for veterinary medicine and is always seeking to learn new things. She always advocates for her patient’s comfort and pain control. Marie looks forward to developing relationships with Lock One’s clients over the next number of years.

When she isn’t at work, Marie is kept on her toes by her family of curly tailed basenjis. Nike, Quiz and Lego are very mischievous and active dogs, and there is never a dull moment in this household!  Their very favourite activity is the sighthound sport of lure coursing, for which Marie will drive long distances, just so the dogs can chase some white plastic bags! Marie’s other hobby is photography, both of her dogs and of others, particularly doing lure coursing. 

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her two daughters, her husband, and their golden retriever, Bentley. Their favourite place to be is either at the cottage or the gym.

At home, Courtney shares life with two dogs, Georgia and Astro,and two cats, Penelope and Persephone. In her free time, you can find her enjoying hot yoga, Irish dancing, or playing video games with her husband.

While at school, she adopted Prada who was one of the dogs that was cared for through the college program. She walked away with a certificate and a best fur friend for life! Emily is dedicated to providing compassionate care to all animals, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable while in our care.

When Emily isn’t at work, you can find her camping, fishing, or spending quality time with her friends and family.
